Open Air Bath in Hotel Fuji Tatsugaoka
These are perhaps the best, last-minute accomodations I've ever had. I needed a hotel near Fuji-Q Highland, fast, and Hotel Tatsugaoka was the only one with cheap rooms available. Nothing about the quality of service I received there was cheap, however. The polite staff went above and beyond to help when I had questions about navigating the Fujiyoshida area or if I needed extra amenities. They even held onto my luggage after I had already checked out and my missing articles when I forgot them in my room. The room itself was quaint, but clean, and the bed was big and comfortable. It had a mini fridge and a TV. The bathroom and tub were fairly spacious by Japanese standards and were clean. As you enter the hotel, you walk through a small, but pleasant teian (Japanese-style garden). The hotel lobby had free bath/beauty amenities as well as free posters of Mt. Fuji to take home, though they were too big for my suitcase. The lounge is small, but has a massage chair, a microwave, and vending machines stocked with: soda, juice, beer, and whiskey. Last, but not least, the onsen (hot spring) was small, but pleasantly relaxing after a long day of exploring, and wasn't crowded past 9 pm. Just remember to bring your spare room towel, wear the provided yukata (robe), and ditch your shoes before you enter. They have shelves for your shoes and lockers for your stuff. Caveat: I speak Japanese, so I didn't have issues communicating with the staff, so I can't comment on their English abilities, but they had English signs and directions upon request. I also can't comment on their meals, since they cost extra and I ended up eating while I was out, but if you like yakiniku (grilled meat a la cart), it's their restaurant's specialty.

The Japanese-style breakfast was great for a quick and efficient meal before heading out for the day. The location was easy to access from Fuji-Q drop off and the local streets were nice to walk around. Excellent view from the room in the morning even with classic Fuji cloudy weather. The hot spring was lovely, very nice in the winter weather and the room was a generous size compared to other accommodation for the price.

I liked the free parking. The entrance to the hotel was nice and well-kept. The staff was kind and although they didn't speak English, they were able to communicate using translation software. The room was relatively small, but still relatively comfortable. The view of Mount Fuji from the room window was very nice. We traveled by car, so all the tourist attractions were about fifteen minutes away from the hotel.

A spacious room (compare with many other hotels in Japan), not far from Fuji Q station, with excellent staff service. The staff is very informative and helpful. Enjoy a great outdoor onsen, providing a peaceful experience. A good breakfast is included. Additionally, the location is close to a large supermarket, restaurants, and Fuji Q Highland Theme Park.

The onsen was beautiful and the massage chair a welcome addition after the marathon! The onsen was quiet and peaceful because it's a small hotel. Complementary products such as moisturiser were a nice touch. The breakfast options are either Japanese or Western and are served on a tray individually. The hotel is a short walk from Fuji Q Highland station.
